CyberRota Analysis
AI-GeneratedThe Affinity by Canva app for macOS versions prior to 3.3.1 is vulnerable due to insufficient bounds checking during the generation of QuickLook thumbnails and previews, which can lead to out-of-bounds heap reads. This flaw allows a threat actor to create a malicious Affinity document that, when previewed, may expose sensitive information from adjacent heap memory, including memory addresses. Users of the affected app, particularly those handling sensitive data, should prioritize updating to the latest version to mitigate potential information disclosure risks.
Original NVD Description
The Affinity by Canva app for macOS before 3.3.1 (October 2026 release) did not perform adequate bounds checking when generating QuickLook thumbnails and previews of Affinity document files, leading to an out-of-bounds heap read. A threat actor could craft an Affinity document that, when displayed or previewed by a user in Finder, could disclose the contents of adjacent heap memory, including memory addresses, in the rendered thumbnail or preview image.
