A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfilter component could lead to an inconsistent state between the offloaded ruleset on the network interface card (NIC) and the software ruleset, potentially compromising network security. This issue arises from the improper sequence of operations during the hardware offload process. Organizations using affected Linux systems, particularly those relying on network filtering and offloading features, should prioritize applying the relevant patches to mitigate potential risks.
