CyberRota Analysis
AI-GeneratedThe SAML Single Sign On WordPress plugin prior to version 6.0.0 is vulnerable as it fails to respect the configured criteria for linking incoming single sign-on identities to WordPress accounts, defaulting to resolving identities by login name. This flaw allows attackers to authenticate as any user, including administrators, by manipulating the login name asserted by the identity provider, bypassing account ownership verification. WordPress site administrators using this plugin should prioritize updating to the latest version to mitigate the risk of unauthorized access.
Original NVD Description
The SAML Single Sign On WordPress plugin before 6.0.0 does not honour the configured criterion for linking an incoming single sign-on identity to a WordPress account, always resolving the identity by login name whatever the site has chosen, which allows an attacker who can have the site's identity provider assert a login name of their choosing to authenticate as any account, including an administrator, without proving ownership of that account.
