CyberRota Analysis

AI-Generated

The XML::Bare Perl library versions up to 0.53 are vulnerable due to an unbounded character lookahead in the parserc_parse function, which can lead to out-of-bounds reads when processing truncated strings. This vulnerability poses a critical risk, as it could be exploited to execute arbitrary code or cause denial of service. Organizations using this library should prioritize patching or mitigating this issue to protect their systems from potential exploitation.

Original NVD Description

XML::Bare versions through 0.53 for Perl have an unbounded character lookahead. The parserc_parse function attempts to check for multicharacter strings such as "<![CDATA" or element terminators such as ">" without checking that the offsets are within the buffer. Truncated strings such as "<a/" can trigger an out-of-bounds read.
